Pesto Sausage and Broccoli Pasta

Pesto is pretty much my favorite thing ever. Normally, I would like to make my own pesto, and for pre-made I like Trader Joe's Vegan Kale Cashew Pesto!! This was super easy and took maybe 15 minutes to put together so it would be great for a quick week night meal. It also tastes great reheated so you can make it once and eat it for the week! :) 

 I cooked this with broccoli and mushrooms but you could really add (or take away) any veggies you want! I think the broccoli gives it a nice little crunch to the normally not crunchy meal. 

Pesto Sausage and Broccoli Pasta


2 C whole wheat pasta

1 tube of ground sausage 

1/2 C pesto 

1 bag (or head) of broccoli

1/2 C mushrooms


  1. preheat the oven to 350 degrees
  2. toss broccoli in olive oil, salt and pepper and put broccoli on a baking sheet. 
  3. cook pasta according to package.
  4. while pasta and broccoli cook, brown sausage. 
  5. once sausage is cooked add mushrooms and cook till softened.
  6. once broccoli is cooked through, cut into bite size pieces. 
  7. toss everything together with pesto and enjoy!!
