Hi! I’m Julie.

I am a Jesus follower, wife and mother of three. I love to cook and I love to create.

Welcome to my food blog!

I’ve always enjoyed cooking. Growing up, my mom cooked for our family almost every night. We hardly ate out. Observing and helping my mom cook formed the foundation of my cooking passion and techniques in the kitchen. Fast forward to my junior year of college where I moved into an apartment with my four best friends. Throughout the 3 years we lived together, we each took a night during the week to cook dinner for the rest of the roommates. This is one of the best things I ever did in college.

Now, as a mother and the main provider of meals to my family, I have become increasingly aware of the role our diet plays in overall health. In the last couple years, I’ve eliminated most processed food from our pantry. I strive to cook nutrient dense meals and provide whole food snacks to my kids. I like to cook most of my meals from single ingredient items. These are the types of meals and snacks you will find on this food blog.

I chose the name of my blog — The Well Fed Kitchen — for several reasons. This name captures what I strive to do everyday. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen preparing food from fresh and whole ingredients. I strive to feed my family well. But I wanted a name that reminds me what is even more important than the time and effort it takes to put a nourishing meal on the table. My number one priority is to be a disciple of Jesus. Even more important than to be well fed physically, is to be well fed spiritually. Yes, I want to feed myself and my family well. But more importantly, I want to point others to Jesus.

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
— John 6:35
